With an investment of more than 4 million euros, the Government of the Principality of Asturias has started the sanitation and water supply works in the council of Llanes through the Regional Ministry of Environment and Climate Change headed by the Deputy Minister Nieves Roqueñí.
The Deputy Minister reported that the works are very necessary because they will relieve the pressure on the Llanes treatment plant by diverting the flows from two important towns such as Posada and Balmori to the San Jorge EDAR, which has sufficient capacity and that «especially in summer, when there is more population, we will have the Llanes treatment plant a little more comfortable and that will also mean fewer problems in summer and, therefore, better water quality on the coast».
Roqueñí pointed out that the planning phases of the works (which have less impact on traffic) will be brought forward for «the comfort of the citizens who come to Llanes to enjoy the summer in many cases, and that is why we will try to cause as few problems as possible and that there will be little conflict with holiday rest, access to the beaches and so on».
The works began this week and the completion period is approximately one year, and «we hope that next summer we will be able to solve the issue of the Llanes EDAR and connect it with the San Jorge EDAR».
