covid-19

covid-19Vienna (dpa) – Austria will ban flights from Britain starting from June to stop the so-called Indian variant from entering the country, the Health Ministry in Vienna said on Tuesday.

The ban will initially be in effect until June 20.

The virus variant, which was first discovered in India in October, has spread widely in Britain. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), this variant, which is considered more contagious, has already appeared in almost all Western European countries.

The Health Ministry in Vienna also classified Britain as a virus variant area, placing strict entry restrictions on the country.

The German government took a similar step on Friday.
