\"Covid-19\"The Regional Ministry of Health has confirmed six cases of the Delta variant of Covid-19 in Asturias and has announced that all cases have been correctly isolated early and in a timely manner, determining the identification of the contact, informed the Director General of Public Health, Rafael Cofi\u00f1o.<\/p>\n

Of the six cases – added Cofi\u00f1o – five have been identified with an outbreak in Area VI and he stressed that there is a possibility that when further sequencing is carried out, new cases may appear. \u00abThe other case is being studied in detail because the chain of transmission is not yet determined, and this case has been identified as an unvaccinated person, a person who has refused vaccination, and this is one of the key issues in terms of the risk of further infection with the Delta variant,\u00bb he explained.<\/p>\n

The director of Public Health pointed out that the information that experts have with the Delta variant is that it is related to an increase in transmissibility, and \u00abthe data that there is in the United Kingdom, which is not yet conclusive data, could indicate an increase in severity, these are not conclusive data and it depends on the research studies\u00bb.<\/p>\n

In relation to the cases obtained in Asturias, Cofi\u00f1o stressed that they have been asymptomatic with a favourable evolution in all of them. \u00abIn fact, some of them are already awaiting the end of the isolation period.<\/p>\n

Finally, the Director of Public Health said that the production and increase of the Delta variant makes health professionals think, as has already happened in other countries, that \u00abit is essential that the form of prevention and action remains the same as with the rest of the variants, and in a way it does alert us to the importance of not forgetting that we have not yet reached a maximum dose of national vaccination coverage, although it must be said that the evolution is favourable and we have had fewer cases, there is still a population that has not been vaccinated, and it is important to maintain the protection and prevention measures that are exactly the same as for the other variants, so it is very important not to lower our guard, not to relax the measures and be very strict when it comes to maintaining prevention and protection\u00bb.<\/p>\n
