Last week, Laboral Cinemateca was present at the most important short film market in the world, the prestigious Clermont-Ferrand Festival du Court Métrage, with the aim of promoting new productions from Asturias and the works included in the Laboral Cinemateca Cortos catalogue.
Laboral Cinemateca’s short film distribution catalogue was once again present at the Clermont-Ferrand market, one of the most important events on the international circuit for the promotion of short films, which each year brings together 1,200 professionals from both the European and international sectors. During these days, numerous meetings have been held with representatives of international festivals with the aim of publicising the latest additions to the catalogue of Asturian short films and promoting their presence at festivals all over the world.
Moreover, the short film Manual de la Siega, directed by Samuel Ferrandi, has been screened within the framework of the market screening of Spanish Documentary Short Films promoted by the Instituto de la Cinematografía y de las Artes Audiovisuales (ICAA), a private screening aimed at international film professionals.
Spain, guest country at the Festival
Within the framework of the market, and together with the special activities developed on the occasion of the Focus on Spain organised by the Clermont-Ferrand Festival, the promotional catalogue of short films Just Spainted. New Shorts from Spain 2022, aimed at promoting Spanish talent at festivals and international markets and which includes the five Asturian productions that have been included in the latest catalogue of Laboral Cinemateca Cortos: Manual de la siega by Samuel Fernandi; Fita by Diego Flórez, Europa by Lucas del Fresno, Vas a ser mi memoria siempre by Marina Munárriz, and L’Obscurité by Carlos Navarro and Iván Martínez.
Asturias also had a special presence thanks to the agreement signed between the Regional Ministry of Culture, Language Policy and Tourism of the Principality and the Clermont-Ferrand Festival, which allowed the festival’s restaurant to offer an Asturian gastronomic menu, designed by the Gijón-born chef Lara Roguez of the Kraken Restaurant.
Laboral Cinemateca Cortos is the Asturian short film distribution project of Laboral Cinemateca, the space dedicated to the creative film and audiovisual sector promoted by the Regional Ministry of Culture, Language Policy and Tourism, through Laboral Ciudad de la Cultura.
