Copenhagen (dpa) – Scandinavian airline SAS is to receive new credit assistance from its main state shareholders Denmark and Sweden as it struggles to deal with the ongoing effects of the global pandemic.
The two countries agreed to provide the airline with a further 3 billion Swedish kronor (360 million dollars), the Danish Ministry of Finance announced on Wednesday evening.
The aid still has to be approved by the EU Commission.
For its part, the airline referred to ongoing efforts to reduce costs, among other measures to deal with the collapse in business over the last year.
In the second quarter of 2021, which ran from February to April, the firm posted a loss of more than 2.4 billion kronor.
Revenue fell to 1.9 billion kronor, compared to 5.3 billion kronor in the same period last year.
